“L’Antico Casale” is situated on a hill overlooking the splendid Nievole Valley and the ancient spa site of Montecatini Terme.
The position of the “Antico Casale Toscano” is one of the best locations for a holiday farmhouse in Tuscany: the Firenze-Mare motorway is only 10 minutes away which takes us first to Pistoia and in just 30 minutes takes us to Florence, Pisa, Viareggio and the sunny Versilian coastline.
The Lucca planes surround this exclusive Tuscan Bed and Breakfast: the area is filled with green hills and sumptious villas built between the XV and XVII centuries by the local families who chose the area for their Summer residences. Amongst those of interest to visitors are the Villa Torrigiani, Villa Mansi and Villa Reale Marlia, all very close to our holiday farmouse. The magnificent Tuscan town of Lucca is just 20km away.
Another place of interest for tourists is Collodi, home town of the writer of Pinocchio, where you can also visit the impressive Villa Garzoni.
For the tourist who enjoys a culinary wine experience , the “Antico Casale Toscano” is an ideal base, the surrounding olive groves provide an excellent pure extyra-virgin olive oil, which is one of the most famous Tuscan products and nearby Montecarlo is famous for its production of fine D.O.C. red and white wines.
How to find us
By car
To get to the “Antico Casale Toscano” La Piaggia from the Firenze-Mare motorway, you take the Altopascio exit and turn right, then at the first roundabout, turn right again toward Pescia. Drive through the small village of Marginone for about 500m until you see a restaurant called “Il Fornello” on the left. Immediately after the restaurant, take the second turning on the right and at the end of this small road you will find “La Piaggia”, a yellow building in the middle of a garden. (Signs for the “Agriturismo La Piaggia” can also be found on the main road, Via Mammianese ).
By Train
Coming from Lucca by train, take the local regional train to Altopascio which takes about 10 minutes. This train also runs from Viareggio, Prato and Florence Santa Maria Novella station. On arriving at Altopascio, the holiday farmhouse is just a few minutes taxi ride away and the average cost is about 10euros.
By plane
It’s possible to rent a car at both the Florence “Amerigo Vespucci” airport and Pisa “Galileo Galilei” airport. Coming from the airport by car, take the Firenze-Mare (A11) motorway, take the Altopascio exit and turn right, then at the first roundabout, turn right again toward Pescia.
